AI won’t replace developers. But it will split us into two camps, which side will you take? 🧠
The real question isn’t “will AI replace us?”, it’s “how do we use it?” After 7+ years in frontend dev, here’s what I see:
🔹 The AI Operator Treats AI like a “smart Stack Overflow”: pastes prompts, fixes bugs for hours, stitches code together. Useful, but often messy. Stack Overflow’s 2025 survey (https://lnkd.in/dD9kDVia ) says 84% of devs use AI, but nearly half don’t trust the results. No surprise.
🔹 The Architect (Orchestrator) Thinks in systems: data, components, user flows. Uses AI as a helper for small tasks, but keeps the bigger picture in mind.
⚙️ Backends are easier to orchestrate – logic, inputs/outputs, automated tests.
🎨 Frontends are tougher – because you carry a double load:
Data layer: APIs, state, integrations (AI can help). User experience: smooth animations, frustration-free UX (AI can’t “feel” user irritation).
Humans still check for emotions.
🧩 My takeaway The future belongs to orchestrators – especially in frontend. It’s about engineering + empathy. That’s what keeps you valuable. 🚀
